Transitional Kindergarten at CVESD

The California Kindergarten Readiness Act established a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for children who miss the September 1 birth date cutoff to enroll in Kindergarten. TK is a high quality program between preschool and Kindergarten and it is designed for younger students to engage in early academic learning experiences designed to promote success in Kindergarten and beyond.

CVESD offers a full-day TK program. Students in the program complete a full year in TK and then a full year in regular kindergarten before moving on to first grade.

Due to high demand and limited availability, CVESD will not be accepting Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Interdistrict Applications for the 2025-26 school year.
